Upper Beeding v EG Meads

East Grinstead Meads u15 team played Upper Beeding on Saturday. Beeding were a big and physical side and from the KO it could be seen why they were pushing for promotion. They had the majority of possession but were restricted to long range shots due to the excellent defending from the Meads back four of Callum Tocher, Michael Gowar, Toby Sawyer and Jack Hayes. Thirty minutes into the match Upper Beeding made a breakthrough with a swift passing move taking a deserved 1-0 lead. Their advantage did not last long as Kofi Summerfield latched onto a through ball and muscled off two defenders to slot pass the on-rushing keeper. The second half was a more even game and EG Meads were unlucky to go 1-2 down conceding a soft goal which bobbled into the goal after a couple of deflections. Again Meads came back within minutes with a similar goal from Summerfield using his speed and strength whilst outnumbered. Ten minutes from time a goalmouth scramble left Duvall in the Meads goal no chance and Upper Beeding took the lead for a third time. EG Meads went looking for the equaliser and looked the stronger team at the end but were unable to convert this possession into a goal. This was a really entertaining physical game played in a good sporting manner and a joy to watch.

Man of the Match was Kofi Summerfield for a powerful display as Centre Forward, challenging for every ball and not letting the defenders have an easy time.

Dad v Son Competition Wednesday 30th December at Crawley

Congratulations to Ashley Hollom and Keith Sawyer for heading the leader boards at the Christmas Go-Karting Grand Prix.

16 members took part in this very exciting and enjoyable event. We had the track to ourselves so we raced in two groups of eight, both sets had 2 x 15min races around the 400m track which is on two levels. Competition was fierce as Paul Dickson demonstrated once he took off his helmet and steam was pouring off his head!
