Result: Billingshurst Red 0 – 3 EG Meads AC
The AC team capped off a fine season by beating Billingshurst comfortably 3-0 away from home in their final league game.
The boys took to playing a new formation of 3-2-1-2 extremely well and our passing, on a very difficult surface, was excellent as we opened up their defence time after time.
Despite the home team playing their best 9 players throughout the game we were never in trouble and should’ve taken the lead earlier than we did after a succession of corners came to nothing.
We did manage to strike before half time as yet another corner was met by Kie. He headed the ball back across goal and it hit the crossbar, bounced down and luckily for us, over the line. The lino and ref both gave the goal despite some obvious frustration from the home team.
The second half saw more of the same and it wasn’t long before we doubled our lead. It was a simple move as Georgie‘s goal kick found Archie K on the right wing. His touch and control were excellent and he fed the ball through to Albert who coolly slot the ball through the keepers legs into the empty net.
Soon after we made it 3 with a goal of the season contender. George won the ball in midfield and passed to Albert who turned, put the ball through the defenders legs and hit an absolute rocket from distance into the top left hand corner. The defence could only stand and watch.
It was a fitting end to a fantastic league season.
