With Plumpton conceding defeat late on Friday as they were unable to field a full team we took on a mixed Under 13’s & 14’s team in a friendly game that was entertaining from the kick off.
We took an early lead as Katie’s in swinging corner went straight in at far post as she made it 5 goals in 3 games. Plumpton then equalised as their striker raced clear of the defence and made no mistake with a powerful shot past the advancing Georgie.
We retook the lead when Ollie volleyed in at the second attempt following a fine cross from the right by Albert. Skye then made the scoreline comfortable at half time scoring with an excellent strike. He cut in from the left and arrowed a shot into the far right hand corner of the net. That’s 2 in 2 from our new signing.
Soon after the break Plumpton capitalised on a defensive error and made it 2-3. Then Albert gave us some breathing space once again as he cut past the defender and shot from the edge of the box into the far corner.
Archie K came back off the bench to net a real poachers goal after Ollie’s effort was kept out by the keeper. Ollie then made it 6-2 (I can’t remember this one!) and Archie K rounded off the scoring late on once again finding the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
It was a good exercise for the boys playing against some stronger, more skilful players and I thought the defence were excellent, in particular Kian who didn’t put a foot wrong all game. It was also nice to see Tyler, Brook and Kie make some overlapping runs to help out the attack.
